There is lot of reasons why I call this man as a G.O.A.T.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, born September 20, 1988 in Russia’s Dagestan Republic, has gained worldwide acclaim in the world of MMA fighting, also known as mixed martial arts (MMA).

The undefeated Russian fighter has dominated his competition with a perfect record of 27 wins and 0 losses. I want to finish all my fights early, Nurmagomedov told Fight Network after his most recent victory against Abel Trujillo in April 2014.

Early life

Nurmagomedov was born on September 20, 1988 in Soviet Union. At the age of seven, he lost his father to prostate cancer. He grew up as a self-taught athlete and began training for fighting at a very young age. From 2008 to 2012, he won all of his matches by stoppage.

In 2014, he gained notoriety by beating Gary Goodridge and Rafael dos Anjos ̶ both in dominant fashion. Finally, he moved up to lightweight with a win over Thiago Tavares and secured the UFC lightweight championship title with a victory over Al Iaquinta.
Nurmagomedov became an inspiration for many people around him due to his humble background as well as never getting defeated during his career as an undefeated fighter.

Amateur career

Nurmagdov started out his professional career in 2008 and immediately won 5 fights in a row. He has gone on to win all but two of his contests, most recently beating Conor McGregor in their now infamous UFC brawl at UFC 229.

The 30-year-old from Russia holds 27–0 and is considered one of the best fighters to ever step into the octagon. And even though he was born into poverty and was bused from village to village as a child, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s life story proves that anything is possible for those who never give up.

Professional career

Nurmagomedov was born in 1988 in a small village called Sildi in the heart of Dagestan. His father is a practicing Muslim who instilled strong religious values on his three sons.

His older brother, Rasul, became an MMA fighter and introduced Khabib to wrestling and mixed martial arts at a young age.

I had judo since I was little but I didn’t like it because it’s only grappling, no striking, he says. He first entered into combat sport as a wrestler before deciding to go down the path of UFC fighting.

When he finally made his debut for UFC, at just twenty-two years old, there were already some people talking about him as being one of the best fighters in the world. In 2014 he won six consecutive fights in record time, five by way of submission or knockout. That year, when asked by journalists what belt he wanted next — light heavyweight or welterweight — he answered ‘champion’.

UFC Lightweight Champion

Currently, Khabib Nurmagdov is ranked as number two lightweight (number one being Conor McGregor). He’s undefeated, with twenty-five fights and twenty-five wins. This includes a flawless six win streak with nine finishes in those bouts. Khabib currently holds the UFC Lightweight Champion belt, which he won by defeating Al Iaquinta on April 7th 2018 at UFC 223.

Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight Championship

Nurmagomedov is a Russian, 27-year-old mixed martial artist and kickboxer, who has been undefeated in MMA since 2012. He made his UFC debut on November 20th, 2012 and became the first person to finish Thiago Tavares with strikes in a UFC fight.

The Dagestani rose to prominence after executing a gutsy submission victory over Rafael dos Anjos (who was undefeated at the time) and earning himself a shot at Conor McGregor’s Lightweight Championship. In his most recent fight against Al Iaquinta, Khabib did not have to wait long for retribution as he executed an amazing rear naked choke within 2 minutes of fighting.

Personal life

Nurmagomedov is a devout Muslim and strictly follows Islamic law. His Instagram feed has pictures of his day-to-day activities, including images of him praying with other devout Muslims, as well as pictures of him working out and eating.

He is married to fellow MMA fighter Karina and they have two daughters together. He likes video games such as Fortnite.

To relax after a hard training session he often jumps into a swimming pool with friends or family members for hours on end. He was awarded the Honorary Order of Sports Merit by Ramzan Kadyrov in 2018 in recognition for his accomplishments in combat sports.

He is the motivation of many youths who follows UFC.
