What is Koo App?

In a Nutshell, Koo is an Indian Microblogging and social networking service based in Bengaluru, India. It was launched in 2020 during the Pandemic Situation; The Koo App is now valued at over 100$ Million. It launched in the main six language in India, mainly southern Indian languages. In future, it plans to provide in even dozens of majority Indian Languages. At present more than 2 million Indian installs this app.

After Nigeria banned popular microblogging site Twitter, Koo App launches in the country. Koo App is considered India’s Alternative to Twitter. Nigeria Banned Twitter because of the Adamant act of Twitter; it caused the action by deleting Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s Tweet for violating rules.

Twitter’s loss is Koo’s Gain?

Due to the ongoing tension between the Twitter and Indian Government due to the Government New IT rules with which the Company is not complying. In the case of chatting, many is jumping from Facebook’s Whatsapp to Signal’s and other Social Media’s . In the Microblogging case, they are jumping to Koo App from Twitter. Many Government officials and ministry websites, including the account of Minister of Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ministry of Electronics and It(MeitY), has joined Koo App. Indian Government is pushing people to use its Indigenous App.

What About Koo’s Privacy?

Koo recorded a massive surge in user base, but cybersecurity researchers flagged potential privacy risks for users, triggering a war of words with its developers. The controversy began when French cybersecurity research, which uses the nom de guerre of Elliot Alderson, tweeted redacted screenshots showing it was possible to access users’ email, date of birth, name, marital status and gender.
